Tony Flaminio - Grim Repair cassette is out now! Last Mohawk Place shows. - Dec 18th, 2012

Today Tony’s solo album “Grim Repair” was released. It’s a split release between One Percent Press and Sheets of Tens. You can order it for $5 from either of those labels or from our merch page. It has 13 songs that were written and recorded before Sinker came out. About half of these songs ended up becoming Failures’ Union songs.

In sadder news, Mohawk Place (our home in Buffalo) is closing down next month due to a handful of reasons. It is a bar/club/venue that has meant a lot to all of us in the band. We’re proud to have been asked to play the last show on January 13th. It’s a part of a two day send off that is going to be complete insanity. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon and they are $10 per day.

Quiet Country Audio - Aug 17th, 2012

Things have been quiet from us. We’ve slowly but surely been writing and recording our new record. We finally started mixing it, so it will hopefully be done soon. To take a break from that we did a session with Paul Besch at Quiet Country Audio. We recorded four songs live (two with video, two just audio). You can check them out here.
In other news, on September 27th we’ll be playing with The Jealous Sound at Mohawk Place. We played our first show with them back in 2004, so it’s great to be playing with them again. Also playing is Tony’s other band, Returners.

Tour's over. - Nov 9th, 2011

We’re home from tour now. We saw a lot of friends, played some rad shows, and got guns in our faces/bashed against our heads. Overall a good time. Thanks to everyone involved, but a special thanks to Christian for filling in on drums for us. He was a real champ, and it was great having him along. Now back to working on/recording the new album.

Tour starts tomorrow. - Oct 21st, 2011

We leave for our east coast/Fest tour tomorrow. Unfortunately Blake got into some trouble with the law, so he’s in the hut for a couple of weeks. We picked up our friend Christian in Michigan and he’s going to be playing drums for us. Hopefully we’ll see a bunch of you in the upcoming weeks.

We're playing our first show in six months on May 17th. - May 15th, 2011

We decided to take a break from writing/recording the new album and we’re going to be playing at Mohawk Place with White Whale and Hunger Anthem on May 27th. If you’re in the Buffalo area come on out and hang out.

Failures' Union Band Camp page. - Mar 15th, 2011

We finally got around to creating a Band Camp page. We have most of our releases streaming for free on there (In What Way, Sinker, You Know Who, Bedford Falls split, Cheap Girls split, as well as a three song live ep from Southampton, UK). Go over to http://failuresunion.bandcamp.com/ and check them out. If you like what you hear, you can purchase the digital downloads for cheap. You can also buy the physical records and cds from the merch section of this page.

Born to Kill 7" Comp is out now! - Mar 9th, 2011

Our friends at One Percent Press and Headless Actor put out a 7” comp of quieter Buffalo bands. Tony from Failures’ Union has two songs on it; “Hard to Sea” and “Dead Glow.” Also on the comp are Fences Make Good Neighbors (Tony also plays keyboards on this), Tracy Morrow and Ellen West. The 7” has one song from each artist, and there is a digital download that contains those four songs, plus and additional song from each of them. The 7” is now available to order on our merch page.

Recording new album & video for our cover of a Sonic Youth song. - Mar 1st, 2011

Over the past six months or so we’ve been working on writing and recording songs for our next album. We’re recording with Jay Zubricky again, but this time we’re doing it at GCR studio. We’re way pumped with the way the songs have been coming out.

Also, we recently acquired a HD video camera, so we made a video for our cover of the Sonic Youth song 100%. You can check out the video here.

Bathroom Session video 2010 and Born To Kill 7" - Jan 5th, 2011

At Fest this year Tony and Blake played a new song “Hard to Sea” acoustically for Bathroom Sessions. Check it out here: http://vimeo.com/16935745.The song is available on a four way split acoustic 7” called “Born to Kill” that One Percent Press and Headless Actor are putting out. Also on the 7” are Buffalo bands Tracy Morrow (you may know him if you ever played Mohawk place, he’s the bartender with the big beard), Fences Make Good Neighbors (Tony plays keyboards and Mark from Exit Strategy plays guitar and sings) and Ellen West (Michele from Missing Planes). The 7” is pretty great all around and you should check it out.
